YouTube Hits One Billion Monthly Viewers

Tech Features YouTube

The video sharing site YouTube announced it has recently reached one billion unique monthly viewers.

According to YouTube, that means about one out of every two people on the Internet visits YouTube.

Other notable comparisons that YouTube made to explain the milestone were:

“Our monthly viewership is the equivalent of roughly ten Super Bowl audiences. [And] if YouTube were a country, we’d be the third largest in the world after China and India.”

As The Verge points out, YouTube’s newest milestone is a sign of significant growth: it was only a year ago when YouTube had just 800 million unique monthly visitors.

And YouTube is only a year older than another cyber-giant: Twitter, which celebrates its seventh birthday today.
