American Airlines First Officer Dies During Landing

During the descent of a flight from Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Dallas, Texas, a first officer became incapacitated and soon after passed away.

Just a few miles away from landing, the American Airlines captain called for a medical emergency. The plane landed safely and upon taxiing to the gate, paramedics were waiting. After performing CPR for 35-40 minutes, the officer was declared dead.

“We are taking care of First Officer Grubbs’ family and colleagues, and our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time,” said the airline in a statement.

How the illness occurred is still unknown.
