Champion Surfer Kai Lenny is Cleaning Up Hawaii’s Beaches

Champion surfer Kai Lenny is making a perilous journey through the chain of Hawaiian islands via paddling, but it isn’t just for the thrill; he is protecting his home state’s stunning beaches.

The journey Lenny will take is a dangerous one, involving passing through areas of high wind, rough waters, and not to mention sharks. He will be accompanied by filmmaker Alison Teal, who is his partner in leading the first statewide beach cleanup ever. Locals and visitors are encouraged to join in the cleanup, helping to raise awareness about Hawaii’s “dirtiest beaches.”

If you are going to be in the Aloha state this month, check out this list of events and join in the fun.
