Mick and Rosa Are the Absolute Cutest In This Exclusive Clip From Art Detectives

Though Acorn TV’s Art Detectives is technically a crime drama, there’s a whole lot more going on in this series than simply solving an increasingly creative series of murders. A case of the week style procedural that’s also a delightfully nerdy history lesson and quirky character study, it’s a cozy mystery series that’s targeted like a laser at people who don’t necessarily watch mysteries all that often.

The story follows DI Mick Palmer (Stephen Moyer), the head of the Metropolitan Police’s (tiny) Heritage Crime Unit, who is charged with investigating crimes in the world of art and antiques. With the help of the new partner he recruited in the series’ first episode, Palmer and DS Shazia Malik (Nina Singh) tackle cases involving Dutch masters, valuable music memorabilia, and Viking artifacts, all with a dash of murder on top for good measure.

The season’s fourth episode sees Mick and Shazia step into the world of fine wine when a tasting goes fatally wrong. Broken glass on the carpet suggests the death wasn’t due to natural causes. Mick knows appearances can be deceptive and the five suspects soon prove his point.

But work isn’t the only thing on DI Palmer’s mind this week.

In our exclusive clip from “Noble Rot”, Mick takes a break from crime-solving to ask his crush, the sweet and equally nerdy museum curator Rosa (Sarah Alexander), over for dinner. Her answer is both adorably enthusiastic and charmingly specific, and if you’re not rooting for these two crazy kids at this point, it’s way past time to get on board.

Art Detectives Season 1, Episode 4 premieres Monday, June 23 on Acorn TV.
