An Alfred Hitchcock Anthology Series is Coming to a Small Screen Near You

TV News Alfred Hitchcock

Alfred Hitchcock’s legacy is hard to deny. His shadow still looms large over cinema, and now that shadow may be extending to television. According to Variety, Universal Cable Productions has reached a deal with the Alfred Hitchcock Estate to re-imagine the director’s stories for a TV project called Welcome to Hitchcock.

The series will be an anthology, and each season will focus on a single season-long mystery or crime. Welcome to Hitchcock will be produced in step with the Hitchcock Estate.

“Long after his death, Alfred Hitchcock continues to be one of the most celebrated directors and visionaries in the world, a master manipulator of the macabre,” said executive vice president of development at UCP, Dawn Olmstead. “We’re honored that the Hitchcock Estate has put its trust in our studio to pay homage to his work.”

“Our grandfather always collaborated with the best and the brightest to help shape his vision,” said Katie O’Connell-Fiala, speaking on behalf of the Hitchcock Trust. “We’re confident that Universal Cable Productions will take great care in helping us to continue preserving his legacy.”

The series is not yet in production, but it sounds like a welcome addition to the TV landscape. After all, we could all use a little more Hitchcock-ian intrigue in our lives.
