Alison Brie to Star in Netflix Wrestling Series G.L.O.W.

Alison Brie has been cast as the lead in Orange is the New Black creator Jenji Kohan’s new show, G.L.O.W. The show, which will be produced for Netflix, focuses on the titular female professional wrestling league of the 1980s.

Brie’s role on the show will be as an actress whose last chance at fame comes from an opportunity to become one of the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling of the title. These Gorgeous Ladies actually had a weekly TV series which aired from 1986-1990.

The show is not Brie’s first foray into Netflix comedy—she’s already a major presence on the critically acclaimed Bojack Horseman. As far as Brie’s work on comedy series goes, she was on Community for its entire six-season run, where she was able to prove her incredible versatility.

G.L.O.W. sounds like a truly absurd premise, but it’s unwise to count Brie out. She’s a real comedy star, and her ability to consistently bring characters to life has made her a sought-after talent.
