Amazon Is Reviving The Tick, Minus One Major Player

TV News

Amazon has officially ordered a live-action remake of the superhero parody The Tick. However, the original 2002 series star Patrick Warburton is no longer expected to reprise his role. Warburton is presently starring in NBC’s sitcom Crowded, which will premiere next week.

The Tick pilot comes from Sony Pictures TV and will see the original series creator Ben Edlund at the helm as both a writer and executive producer.

The series reboot will see its main character “recovering from a memory loss,” which results in a “re-teaming with Arthur to fight evil.” According to Deadline, Arthur—the eventual sidekick to Tick—will be labeled as schizophrenic due to his beliefs that evil plans to rule the city until he runs into the superhero. Meanwhile, Dot is will be a nurse and Arthur’s loving sister who often worries about him.

Griffin Newman has already been cast as Arthur, and Valorie Curry will star as Dot, leaving the real question of who will play The Tick. Executive producer for original Fox series, Barry Josephson, will also return for the Amazon reboot. Wally Pfister, known mostly for his work with Christopher Nolan, is in talks to direct the upcoming pilot.
