Amazon Prime Reveals Good Omens, Hanna Release Dates, More

Don’t worry if you’re Valentine-less today (Feb. 14, in case anyone has let you forget). Amazon Prime has already shared the love in the form of multiple late-Wednesday announcements about its forthcoming series.

Good Omens, from showrunner and executive producer Neil Gaiman, finally has a release date: May 31, 2019. The Prime Original series, based on the novel by Terry Pratchett and Gaiman, follows an uptight Angel (Michael Sheen) and a freewheeling Demon (David Tennant) as they team up to find the Antichrist and stop the End of the World. The rest of the cast is composed of Jon Hamm (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Frances McDormand (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), Nick Offerman (Fargo), Jack Whitehall (Jack Whitehall: Travels with My Father), Miranda Richardson (Harry Potter’s Rita Skeeter), Adria Arjona (Emerald City), Michael McKean (Better Call Saul), Anna Maxwell Martin (Motherland) and The Killing’s Mireille Enos. And one particularly big new addition to the cast is Benedict Cumberbatch, who will play Satan in the series.

The adaptations continue with The Power, the ten-part drama series based on the book of the same name by award-winning British author Naomi Alderman. The captivating novel—one of Barack Obama’s favorites of 2017—explores how the world changes when teenage girls gain the ability to electrocute people. Alderman is writing and creating the show, with Reed Morano (The Handmaid’s Tale) directing.

Alderman said of the series:

Jennifer Salke [Head of Amazon Studios] and her team have had a huge and obvious passion for the project from the very first meeting—as well as a vision for how the show can reach the widest possible audience. The story is a global one, about the lives of women and men everywhere in the world, so I’m hugely excited that The Power will be sparking conversation and debate essentially … everywhere. We’re going to make something revolutionary and, dare I say it, electrifying.

The Power is set to go into production this year.

The Hunt, the forthcoming Nazi hunter series from executive producer Jordan Peele, has confirmed “the addition of Al Pacino: to its cast. Pacino will play Meyer Offerman, the head of the vigilante group “The Hunters,” who guides Jonah Heidelbaum (Logan Lerman) following the murder of the young man’s grandmother. Jerrika Hinton also stars as Millie Malone, an FBI agent on the trail of The Hunters as she solves a spate of strange murders. The bill also includes Lena Olin (Alias), Carol Kane (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Saul Rubinek (The Ballad of Buster Scruggs), Tiffany Boone (The Following), Louis Ozawa Changchien (The Bourne Legacy), Greg Austin (Mr. Selfridge) and Dylan Baker (Homeland).

Amazon has also announced that its eight-episode series Hanna will land on March 29. The show, based on the 2011 Joe Wright film of the same name, stars Esmé Creed-Miles as 15-year-old Hanna, a trained fighter attempting to outrun the CIA. Watch the series trailer below.
