The Boys are back in town.
Amazon announced today that they’ve ordered a new one-hour, eight-episode superhero drama to series. The Boys, based on Garth Ennis (Preacher, the comic) and Darick Robertson’s comic book of the same name, will be created and written by showrunner Eric Kripke (Supernatural), and directed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (Preacher, the show). The Boys will debut exclusively on Prime Video in 2019.
The Boys follows the Preacher formula quite closely, in terms of both its source material and its production team. The Prime original series will be co-produced by Sony Pictures Television Studios, and executive produced by Kripke, Goldberg, Rogen, Neal H. Moritz (Prison Break) of Original Film, Ori Marmur (Preacher), Pavun Shetty (New Girl) and Point Grey Pictures’ James Weaver (Preacher). Comic creators Ennis and Robertson will co-executive produce, as well.
