Amazon Picks Up David O. Russell’s Mafia Drama Series with Robert De Niro, Julianne Moore Set to Star

The streaming giants continue to snatch up big stars for competing TV projects. According to THR, Amazon is the latest to nab some big-name talent, having acquired a mini-series from American Hustle writer-director David O. Russell that is set to star a pair of Oscar winners in Robert De Niro and Julianne Moore.

Amazon spent $160 million to acquire the show, which will consist of two seasons of eight episodes each, to be written and directed by Russell. Scott Lambert, Alexandra Milchan and Megan Ellison of Annapurna Pictures (American Hustle, Joy) will produce.

Other details are scarce—there’s not even a title yet—but the show will be a drama that revolves around the mafia. This will be Russell’s fourth project with De Niro and his first with Moore.
