Severance Is Back and More Ominous Than Ever in First Season 2 Trailer
Image courtesy of Apple TV+It’s been over two years since we last stepped into Lumon Industries’ fluorescent-lit labyrinth, but the wait is nearly over. Apple TV+ unveiled the much-anticipated trailer for Season 2 of Severance today at CCXP24 in São Paulo, Brazil, offering a tantalizing glimpse into the next chapter of the Emmy-winning workplace thriller. Fans in attendance were joined by creator Dan Erickson and stars Adam Scott, Britt Lower, and Tramell Tillman, who teased a season set to dive deeper into the unsettling mysteries of the severance procedure.
The new trailer doesn’t disappoint. Opening with haunting shots of Lumon’s stark, minimalist corridors, it offers glimpses of escalating tension as the barrier between work and personal lives continues to blur in the aftermath of the “innie” rebellion at the end of the first season. Scott’s Mark Scout looks even more fractured, grappling with the revelations from last season’s jaw-dropping cliffhanger. Lower’s Helly R appears determined to push the boundaries of resistance, Tillman’s Mr. Milchick is more menacing than ever, and it seems we’re finally delving into the mystery that is Ms. Casey—or, as Mark’s “innie” finally learned in the Season 1 finale, his outie’s wife, Gemma—but, perhaps most importantly of all, we get another glimpse of those baffling baby goats Mark stumbled upon last season. Seriously, what is up with that?
Season 2, which expands to 10 episodes, promises to untangle more of Lumon’s enigmatic operations while delving into the emotional and ethical turmoil of its employees. New cast members, including Sarah Bock and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, will join the stellar ensemble, which also features Patricia Arquette, Zach Cherry, and Tramell Tillman.
The stakes seem higher than ever as Mark and his colleagues navigate the consequences of challenging the severance barrier. Will they uncover the truth behind Lumon’s sinister goals, or will their resistance only deepen their entrapment?
Mark your calendars: Severance returns globally on January 17, 2025, with weekly episodes dropping every Friday. Prepare to return to the office—but don’t forget to leave your memories at the door.
