Apple TV+’s Slow Horses is one of the most compelling dramas on TV. Four seasons in, the series has just continued to get better and better—and its recent Emmy win for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series is only a testament to the quality that has been there since the very beginning.

In the fourth season, slough house is tackling the storyline from the novel Spook Street, written by Mick Heron. In our review of the series (in which we awarded the series an outstanding 9.5), Kaitlin Thomas calls this fourth outing “another thrilling season full of excitement and intrigue,” with emotion anchoring its overarching storylines.

In our exclusive clip from the upcoming third episode, River (Jack Lowden) finds himself trapped in France while in search of answers regarding the mysterious car bomb that is connected to an MI5-created identity. With his ally laid out on the street after a nasty punch, River makes a break for it, but not before throwing up a peace sign on his way out. The series’ cheeky humor and heart-pounding stakes both come through in this first look, promising another intriguing puzzle piece in the series’ complicated mystery plot.
