FX’s Baskets to End after Current Season’s Forthcoming Finale

With three weeks left in its fourth season, FX’s Baskets is set to end after the current season’s finale, per Variety.

The Season Four finale is set for Aug. 22, and will now be the series finale, as well. The show began in 2016 and follows twin brothers, both portrayed by Zach Galifianakis. One brother, Chip, trained in Paris to be a circus clown, but despite his prestigious pedigree, he only became a rodeo clown in California.

Other than Galifianakis, the series stars Louie Anderson, Martha Kelly and Alex Morris. The series was created and executive produced by Galifianakis, Jonathan Krisel and Louis C.K., but C.K.’s involvement in the show ended after he admitted to sexual misconduct. Otherwise, Marc Gurvitz and Andrea Prett-Joseph also executive produce the show.

“Over four seasons, Baskets has taken its place among the great FX comedies as an endearing and hilarious look at the dreams and ambition of Chip Baskets and his extended, loving family,” Eric Schrier, president of FX Entertainment, said in a statement, per Variety. “This show has been a joy for everyone at FX and we are grateful to Jonathan Krisel, Zach Galifianakis, Louie Anderson, Martha Kelly and the rest of the cast and crew for giving us the gem that is Baskets.”

The series has been nominated for a total of four Primetime Emmy Awards, and in 2016, Anderson took home the statue for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. After winning in 2016, he was subsequently nominated in 2017 and 2018. Furthermore, Galifianakis was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series in 2017, but Donald Glover took home the statue for series Atlanta, which also airs on FX.
