Watch the First Trailer for Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, Out Tomorrow on Netflix

The cryptic first trailer is here for Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, “a Black Mirror event” out tomorrow, Dec. 28, on Netflix.

Set to the new-wave sounds of Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s “Relax,” the trailer follows Stefan (Dunkirk’s Fionn Whitehead), a young videogame programmer who decides to stop taking medication in order to focus on developing a game called Bandersnatch. Will Poulter and Asim Chaudhry also star as Stefan’s colleagues.

The trailer comes with the following synopsis:

In 1984, a young programmer begins to question reality as he adapts a sprawling fantasy novel into a videogame and soon faces a mind-mangling challenge. Welcome back.

Based on this videogame-driven premise, there’s a solid chance that Bandersnatch is the rumored “choose-your-own-adventure” Black Mirror episode that Netflix has reportedly been developing. The streamer bills the story as “a Netflix film.” David Slade, who helmed season four episode “Metalhead” (a reference to which eagle-eyed viewers will catch in the Bandersnatch trailer), reportedly directed Bandersnatch, per Deadline.

While we still don’t yet know when Black Mirror season five will launch on Netflix, fans should gear up for a longer ride than usual with Bandersnatch. Other Black Mirror one-offs, such as the 2014 holiday special “White Christmas,” have run longer than typical episodes of the series. And if Bandersnatch is indeed interactive as rumored, fans can expect to give up quite some time exploring the “episode.”

Black Mirror: Bandersnatch arrives on Netflix Dec. 28, with a fifth season expected to premiere at a later date.
