Owners of Walter White’s House Install Fence to Stop Breaking Bad Fans From Throwing Pizzas on Their Roof
Photo via AMCWalter White once threw a pizza pie onto the roof of his home. Breaking Bad fans have never forgotten the scene, a laugh-out-loud funny moment amidst a dark and intense television show about selling meth. What you see below was the first take they shot—Bryan Cranston nails it.
That roof pizza is an iconic image from a show full of them, and that would be all well and good … except for the fact that the people who live in the Albuquerque, N.M., house that was used as the White family home do not appreciate real-life roof pizza, which is exactly what Breaking Bad fans have been giving them ever since 2010, when the episode excerpted above first aired. Even now, four years after the Breaking Bad series finale, fans regularly toss pizzas onto the house’s roof, steal landscaping rocks from the yard as souvenirs, and even ask the residents to close their garage or move out of the way so they can take photos. Now, the inhabitants of Walter White’s house are taking action.
Joanne Quintana, whose mother owns the house, told Albuquerque’s KOB that she is installing “a 6-foot high wrought iron fence” to keep out the looky-loos, though she says the security measure feels more like a punishment than a perk: “We don’t want to gate ourselves in,” she said. “We’re the ones who’s being locked up. We did nothing wrong.” KOB’s report points out that the renter of the University of New Mexico-area duplex that served as Jesse Pinkman’s (Aaron Paul) apartment has dealt with similar problems, like fans regularly snapping selfies at her front door.

Breaking Bad is a wonderful show, and it’s inspired a legion of dedicated fans. It’s just a shame that some of those fans feel the need to harass complete strangers in the name of their fandom. Much like Rick and Morty fans screaming at McDonald’s employees, these pizza people have to see that loving a TV show is no reason to mistreat people.
