TV News

Former L Word and current Person of Interest star Sara Shahi will be our newest Nancy Drew, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The Iranian and Spanish actress will star as the adult version of the beloved teen sleuth in CBS’ modern spin on the iconic book series character. Shahi’s Drew is “now in her 30s, Nancy [and] a detective for the NYPD where she investigates and solves crimes using her uncanny observational skills, all while navigating the complexities of life in a modern world.”

The news of Shahi’s casting follows the network’s announcement that executives had plans to employ a non-white actor to play one of literature’s most famous women. Also cast in the diverse mystery drama pilot is Vanessa Ferlito (Graceland, CSI:NY), Anthony Edwards (ER) and Felix Solis (Colony, The Good Wife).

CBS also recently announced that Steve Kazee (Shameless, Legends) would be joining the cast as Nancy’s former boyfriend and an investigative reporter at the New York Times.
