Emmy Award winner Michael Emerson is set to join Season 2 of CBS’s detective show Elsbeth in a recurring role. The announcement was made during Elsbeth’s panel at New York Comic-Con yesterday.
Emerson, the real-life husband of Elsbeth star Carrie Preston, will appear alongside her in the Good Wife spinoff, where she leads in her Emmy-winning role as Elsbeth Tascioni. Emerson will portray Judge Milton Crawford, a foil to Elsbeth, depicted as an arrogant, soft-spoken figure from a long line of public servants in a distinguished New England family, per a Paramount press release. He is set to debut as Judge Crawford in an episode airing on Thursday, December 12th.
Recently, Emerson played the devilish Leland Townsend on Paramount+’s Evil, a show helmed by Elsbeth creators, Michelle and Robert King. Additionally, he guest-starred on Prime Video’s apocalypse drama Fallout and voiced the malevolent Brainiac on Adult Swim’s My Adventures with Superman.
Elsbeth also stars Carra Patterson as detective-in-training Officer Kaya Blanke (Rustin) and Wendell Pierce (The Wire) as the cynical Captain Charles Wagner. The Kings serve as executive producers on the series alongside showrunner Jonathan Tolins (The Good Fight). Additional executive producers include Liz Glotzer (Castle Rock), Bryan Goluboff (George & Tammy), Gail Barringer (Emergence), and Erica Shelton (The Good Wife). Zoe Marshall (Found) serves as co-executive producer alongside Leah Nanako Winkler (Ramy).
New episodes of Elsbeth Season 2 air Thursdays on CBS at 10 p.m. ET/9 p.m. CST.
