FX has become one of the dominant forces in prestige television, and now the network is looking to add another drama to their stable. The network has ordered a full season for John Singleton’s (Boyz n’ the Hood) Snowfall, a period drama set in Los Angeles during the 1980s, when the crack-cocaine epidemic was at its height.

Starring Damson Idris, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Carter Hudson and Emily Rios, the show focuses on figures on both sides of the law during the period. Idris plays Franklin Saint, a young street entrepreneur looking for power. Zapata plays a Mexican wrestler, while Hudson plays a CIA agent and Rios is the self-possessed daughter of a Mexican crime lord.

Dave Andron (Justified) will be the showrunner alongside executive producers Singleton, Thomas Schlamme (The West Wing), Eric Amadio (Stuntmen), Michael London (Sideways) and Michael London (All About Steve). Snowfall will debut its ten-episode season in 2017.
