Game of Thrones Season Finale Gets Record-High Ratings

TV News Game of Thrones

Season six of Game of Thrones had its highs and lows, but the series’ season finale reached a record number of viewers and received the show’s highest ratings for an episode.

The 69-minute episode reached 8.9 million people, breaking its season five finale record of 8.1 million people, according to Nielsen. Among viewers between the ages of 18 and 49, the episode scored a 4.4 rating, higher than any other Game of Thrones episode. The show has been drawing around 23.3 million viewers each week, up 15 percent from last year, reports USA Today.

Unfortunately, showrunners have confirmed that Game of Thrones will wrap up after two more seasons. But if the ratings are any indication, the show is going out on a high note.
