HBO Head of Drama, Michael Ellenberg, Steps Down
Michael Ellenberg, the head of drama at HBO, will reportedly be leaving the company. Ellenberg joined HBO in 2011 as senior vice president and head of drama series and was promoted to EVP in 2013. He has overseen shows such as Game of Thrones, True Detective and The Leftovers.
Before joining HBO, Ellenberg spent four years as SVP for Scott Free Productions and worked on the Ridley Scott-directed Prometheus as well as other films such as Child 44 and Robin Hood. Prior to Scott Free, he worked as VP at Scott Rudin Productions in Los Angeles for three years.
Ellenberg’s replacement will be the EVP of comedy Casey Bloys, who will oversee both comedy and drama.
