It’s finally upon us, the month we must say goodbye to Fury Road on HBO Now. Let’s take a look at what the streaming service is bringing us in April to salve this fresh wound, shall we?
Speaking of endings, Crashing, Girls and Big Little Lies will each air their finales this month, with only the first of those shows set to return next year. The third and fourth Sundays of April will bring us season premieres of both Veep and Silicon Valley, respectively, so at least we know HBO is set to get even funnier soon. The premiere of The Leftovers’ final season will be paired with Veep on April 16, giving you and everyone else yet another chance to not be caught up on the former. You’ll also be able to check out The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks on April 22, starring Oprah Winfrey, which tells the story of an African-American woman whose cells were used to achieve a revolutionary scientific breakthrough.
Other new and original programs this month include the Earth Day special Saving My Tomorrow and Abortion: Stories Women Tell, which gives us a look at the lives of women living in Missouri, which only has one open abortion clinic.
In terms of new theatrical offerings, you’ll soon be able to check out War Dogs, Victor Frankenstein and, if you’re in the mood to punish yourself for some reason, the extended cut of Suicide Squad. Older selections like Slumdog Millionaire, Herbie: Fully Loaded and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe will also become available in April.
And finally, we’ll have to say goodbye to gems like Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2, The Road Warrior and 28 Days Later. Make sure you find some time to stream before what might be the best superhero movie ever and the best two Mad Max movies disappear for an unknown amount of time.
For that and everything else coming and going from HBO Now next month, take a look at the full list below.
