HBO Announces Air Dates for Big Little Lies, Veep, More

HBO has looked benevolently upon us this day and gifted us with information, the only real currency in our digital age. Even better, it’s information about television. Have your planners at the ready.

First off, HBO announced Veep’s return on March 31 at 10:30 p.m. for its seventh and, sadly, final season. The Emmy-winning comedy has seven more episodes in store—and we’re going to enjoy every last one of them. The “Monterey Five” are back when Big Little Lies airs its seven-episode second season in June. Beyond wondering what’s a-brewing in this sleepy California town, we’re also anxious to see Meryl Streep (!!!) join the cast.

As for new content, Leaving Neverland, the two-part documentary following those allegedly abused by Michael Jackson, debuts on Sunday, March 3, and Monday, March 4, at 8 p.m. HBO’s five-part miniseries Chernobyl premieres in May, centering on—you guessed it—the 1986 nuclear disaster and the people involved. The star-studded cast includes Jared Harris (The Crown), Stellan Skarsgard (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again) and Emily Watson (The Happy Prince). To lighten things up, the half-hour comedy Los Espookys debuts in June. The primarily Spanish-language show comes from the brilliant SNL writer Julio Torres and Ana Fabrega (writer for The Chris Gethard Show), as well as Fred Armisen and Lorne Michaels. The series promises to be a compelling mix of the hilarious and the macabre.
