HBO Renews Acclaimed Comedies Veep and Silicon Valley

Proving that there is truly some good left in this world, HBO has officially renewed two of their flagship comedies: Veep and Silicon Valley. The shows’ respective seventh and fifth seasons will both air in 2018.

Veep’s hilarious, insider’s look at the nitty gritty of American politics has garnered a staggering 42 Emmy nominations, winning 12. Five of those wins were earned by the show’s Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who has been on a record-breaking tear ever since the show first aired back in 2012. Louis-Dreyfus portrays a foul-mouthed vice president struggling to make her mark despite being surrounded by the trappings of inept bureaucracy.

Similarly, Silicon Valley has received 23 Emmy nods, winning two. The show follows Thomas Middleditch’s Richard Hendricks while he attempts to launch his own startup technology company. Time after time, Hendricks and his team encounter ridiculous obstacles ranging from patent lawsuits to hacker girlfriends.

Both shows are consistently hilarious and exceptionally well-received. This is great news for fans of television comedy everywhere.

Veep and Silicon Valley conclude their current sixth and fourth seasons on Sunday, June 25, at 10:30 p.m. EST and 10 p.m. EST, respectively.
