New on HBO Now: All the Movies and TV Coming in March

March is an exciting month to be a passenger on the HBO train, as the pay-cable channel is making multiple big additions in television and film alike. You can skip to the complete list down below, or indulge us in breaking down the highlights—the choice is yours.

There’s no choice but to start on the small screen, where HBO, despite not being TV, has a massive March in store. They saved the best for last, as March 31 brings both the seventh and final season of Emmy-winning political comedy series Veep, starring the wonderful Julia Louis-Dreyfus as D.C. power player Selina Meyer, and the sophomore season of stellar action-comedy Barry, led by Bill Hader as a steely hitman with Hollywood aspirations. Airing earlier in the month are: new episodes of The Shop (March 1), the barbershop-based talk show from LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s Uninterrupted; the season two finale of Jessica Williams’ and Phoebe Robinson’s comedy variety show 2 Dope Queens (March 1); the season three finales of Pete Holmes-led comedy series Crashing (March 10), and Ben Sinclair and Katja Blichfield’s High Maintenance (March 17); the series finale of Serial-adjacent docuseries The Case Against Adnan Syed (March 31); the series premiere of HBO Asia period drama Grisse (March 6); and the season four premiere of HBO Brazil crime drama Psi (March 29).

On the film side, HBO’s theatrical premieres for the month include J.A. Bayona’s money-printing creature feature Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (March 9), one of Paste’s top films of the year in The Miseducation of Cameron Post, the massive shark-driven silliness of The Meg (March 23), delightful animated superhero series adaptation Teen Titans Go! to the Movies (March 9) and “batshit insane” The Purge prequel The First Purge (March 16), among others. Beyond that, the pay-cabler’s licensed movie offerings for the month are pedestrian at best, though we’ll give 2010’s unfairly maligned The Wolfman (March 1) and farcical dark-comedy Weekend at Bernie’s (March 1) a shoutout, at least. Far more interesting are HBO’s incoming documentary highlights, including Oscar-winner Alex Gibney’s Elizabeth Holmes/Theranos exposé The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley (March 18) and Dan Reed’s much-discussed Michael Jackson doc Leaving Neverland, airing in two parts on March 3 and 4.

HBO’s library’s March losses certainly outweigh its gains in the film department: a few titles vanish from the service late in the month, such as Wes Anderson’s stop-motion animated Roald Dahl adaptation Fantastic Mr. Fox (March 26), but the biggest blow lands later, when a cavalcade of excellent films—including Being John Malkovich, Fargo, Goodfellas, Public Enemies, The Shape of Water and others—follow suit on March 31.
