A New Stage Is Set in the Only Murders in the Building Season 3 Trailer

Just in time for some sleuthy summer fun, Only Murders in the Building is coming back, and this time, with a murder that takes place outside of the building.

In the Season 2 finale, Only Murders in the Building time-jumped one year into the future, to the opening night of Oliver’s (Martin Short) new stage show, starring none other than Charles (Steve Martin) and the surprise appearance of Paul Rudd as Hollywood star Ben Glenroy. With Mabel (Selena Gomez) seated in the audience of a packed house, the show begins with a major hitch: Ben ends up dead before the curtain draws on the second season. Now in Season 3, it’s up to Charles, Oliver, and Mabel to work together to solve what a press release calls “their toughest case yet”—all while Oliver tries to save his show.

Featuring the series’ signature hilarity (Gomez deserves some kind of award for her delivery of “we’re like uh… yas and werk and slay over here”) and a tease at more high-stakes mysteries, the third season of Only Murders could not come at a more welcome time. As new releases start to peter out (due to both the strikes and corporate greed), it’s a delight to be welcomed back into this world with these wonderful characters once again.

Still from co-creators Steve Martin and Justin Hoffman, Meryl Streep and Jesse Williams join the returning cast this season, including Martin, Short, Gomez, and Rudd. The trailer also teases original music from the composers of La La Land, Waitress, and Hairspray.

Check out the trailer below; Only Murders in the Building Season 3 premieres Tuesday, August 8th on Hulu.
