James Gunn, his brother Brian and their cousin Mark have been tapped to write a revival of Starsky & Hutch, the beloved cop procedural from the 1970s. Sony Pictures TV Studios is backing the project. James Gunn, known for writing and directing Guardians of the Galaxy and its sequel, could also direct for the series if his schedule permits.
This seems like a perfect fit, as it allows Gunn the opportunity to combine his love for scruffy, foulmouthed troublemakers with hearts of gold with his love for music from the ‘70s. The reboot is in the process of pitching to television networks, with interested parties from broadcast, streaming and cable according to Deadline.
