Jason Momoa’s Netflix Show Isn’t Even Out Yet And It’s Already Been Renewed for Season Two

Jason Momoa’s Netflix show Frontier hasn’t even debuted yet and it’s already been renewed for a second season.

According to THR, the studio producing the show, Discovery Canada, was so impressed with season one, that they haven’t waited to see how the show performs before gearing up for season two.

Ken MacDonald, VP and GM at Discovery Canada, said:

As we started to see this cinematic, well-cast and meticulously produced series come to life as we’d dared imagine for season one, we knew we’d created a uniquely immersive world and story that begged for expansion to a second season. Our decision to begin filming another six episodes before the series’ world premiere is a testament to our confidence in Frontier’s world-class storytelling.

The show is set in the 1800s and follows multiple characters in the North American fur trade, an often cutthroat business, exploring the tense relationship between Natives and Europeans. Momoa’s character is described by THR as “an ambitious, confident, charismatic and untamed man with a reputation for being a ruthless trader, driven by lust and revenge,” which sounds like Momoa in his comfort zone.

Frontier is set to premiere on Netflix internationally and on Discovery Canada in November.
