Jessica Jones Won Marvel Its First Emmy

The Creative Arts Emmys were awarded over the weekend, and if your first thought was, “Aren’t the Emmys next weekend?” then don’t worry, you’re not the only one a little confused.

The Creative Arts Emmys are basically where they put all the awards that aren’t prominent enough to go on primetime TV, so you get awards like “Outstanding Commercial,” or “Outstanding Multi-Camera Picture Editing for A Comedy Series,” or “Outstanding Main Title Theme Music,” which is the one we’re most interested in right now for one key reason: it’s the first Emmy awarded to a Marvel TV show.

On Saturday, composer Sean Callery took home the award for “Outstanding Main Title Theme Music” for the theme to Netflix’s excellent Jessica Jones.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s companion television universe has had three seasons of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., two seasons of Agent Carter, two seasons of Daredevil, and a total of nine nominations, but it’s Jessica Jones that finally won one for the team.

And for the curious: the MCU has been nominated for eight Oscars, mostly for visual effects, and has taken home zero.
