Jessica Jones Returns in Intense Season Two Trailer

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Jessica Jones. Marvel’s super-powered private investigator last appeared in Netflix’s somewhat disappointing team-up series The Defenders back in August, but her excellent solo show debuted way back in 2015. All of this is to say that Jessica Jones season two can’t come soon enough, and we’re excited to say that today has brought the dark and explosive first full trailer for Jessica’s next adventure.

Here’s Netflix’s synopsis of the show’s sophomore season:

New York City private investigator Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) is beginning to put her life back together after murdering her tormenter, Kilgrave. Now known throughout the city as a super-powered killer, a new case makes her reluctantly confront who she really is while digging deeper into her past to explore the reasons why.

Speaking of Kilgrave (David Tennant), you’ll want to watch the trailer above until the very end.

Ritter, of course, will return for Jessica Jones season two, along with Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth and Eka Darville as Malcolm Ducasse. New additions to the show’s cast include Janet McTeer (Me Before You) and J.R. Ramirez (Power). As revealed by showrunner Melissa Rosenberg in October of 2016, all 13 episodes of Jessica Jones’ second season will be directed by women, including Minkie Spiro (Better Call Saul, One Mississippi) and Deborah Chow (Fear the Walking Dead, Iron Fist), among others.

We ranked Jessica Jones high on our list of Netflix’s best original shows, higher than any of the other Marvel series. Fittingly, the show won Marvel its first-ever Emmy back in the fall of 2016: Composer Sean Callery won Outstanding Main Title Theme Music for his work on the show, which we also recognized in our ranking of the best TV title sequences of all time last January.

Jessica Jones returns on March 8 (International Women’s Day), and boy, has it been a long wait. Watch the season two trailer above, and revisit our November 2017 interview with Ritter here.
