Trailer for New Netflix Series Easy Gives Us Joe Swanberg’s Take on Love and Sex
Photos by Zac Hahn, Patrick Wymore/NetflixJoe Swanberg has largely confined himself to the feature film world thus far in his career, but that’s about to change with Easy. The anthology series debuts on Netflix next week, and it takes a look at romance in the age of apps and texting. A trailer has given audiences a sense of what ground the series will cover.
The trailer itself looks to largely follow along the tracks that Swanberg’s feature work took, using complex dialogue to present interesting ideas, hopefully in fun ways. For the project, Swanberg has assembled an incredible group of actors, including Orlando Bloom, Malin Akerman, Marc Maron, Kiersey Clemons, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Jake Johnson, Dave Franco, Hannibal Buress, Emily Ratajkowski and Aya Cash, among others.
The anthology series will tell eight distinct stories, and all eight episodes will be available to stream on Netflix on Friday, Sept. 23. Swanberg has often been a unique voice in contemporary cinema, giving his films a distinctly relaxed style that makes them feel more alive than much of what Hollywood produces. Hopefully that style will translate to television. Check out the trailer for Easy above.
