Mark your calendars––and maybe text your siblings. Long Story Short, the new animated series from BoJack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg, will premiere on Netflix on August 22.

The series follows the lives of the Schwooper siblings across decades, jumping through time to map their triumphs, disappointments, and compromises, capturing the mess and meaning of family life.

The cast is packed with comedic talent, including Lisa Edelstein (Girlfriend’s Guide To Divorce), Paul Reiser (Mad About You), Ben Feldman (Superstore), Abbi Jacobson (Broad City), Max Greenfield (New Girl), Angelique Cabral (Life in Pieces), and Nicole Byer (Nailed It!). Dave Franco (Krapopolis) and Michaela Dietz (Steven Universe) will appear in recurring roles.

Bob-Waksberg serves as writer, showrunner, and executive producer alongside Noel Bright and Steven A. Cohen for Tornante Television. Lisa Hanawalt––his longtime collaborator on BoJack Horseman and Tuca & Bertie––returns as supervising producer and character designer. Tornante will produce, with animation by ShadowMachine, the same team behind BoJack. ShadowMachine’s Corey Campodonico and Alex Bulkley also executive produce.

While Long Story Short features a fully human ensemble, it promises to deliver the hallmarks of Bob-Waksberg’s style: existential comedy tinged with melancholy, and a deep curiosity about how people change––and how they don’t.
