Narcos Season Four Adds Diego Luna, Michael Peña

Netflix’s new season of drug-trafficking drama Narcos is due out in 2018, and with some high-profile new cast members in tow. Although the show’s new season four teaser doesn’t give us much by way of actual footage, it does announce newcomers Diego Luna and Michael Peña, and drum up excitement for the show’s impending move to Mexico.

The way the teaser plays out, you half-expect it to just keep naming excellent Mexican-American actors, but the duo of Luna (Rogue One, Y Tu Mamá También) and Peña (Crash, American Hustle, Ant-Man, The Martian, everything) alone is an embarrassment of riches. Typical Netflix.

As far as other projects go, Peña recently wrapped production on Marvel’s Ant Man and The Wasp, set to open on July 6, 2018. He’ll appear alongside Chris Hemsworth and Michael Shannon in Horse Soldiers in January, and in Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle in Time opposite Reese Witherspoon and Oprah Winfrey in March. Luna, meanwhile, starred in Sony’s Flatliners remake, and will appear in Woody Allen’s A Rainy Day in New York and Berlin, I Love You.

There is a downside to the Luna and Peña additions: Pedro Pascal, who played DEA agent Javier Peña throughout the first three seasons, will no longer star in the series, per EW.

Production on season four of Narcos recently began in Mexico City. Watch the new season’s teaser below.
