Netflix Orders First Original Docuseries

After success with original binge-worthy shows like House of Cards and Orange Is the New Black, Netflix is stepping into new territory – the docuseries.

Netflix has ordered six episodes of Chef’s Table from Jiro Dreams of Sushi director David Gelb. Additional directors include Boardwalk Pictures’ Andrew Fried, Clay Jeter and Brian McGinn. Along with Gelb, Fried and McGinn, Matt Weaver will produce the show.

Chef’s Table follows six famous chefs from around the world – Dan Barber, Massimo Bottura, Francis Mallmann, Niki Nakayama, Magnus Milsson and Ben Shewry – showing viewers both their lives and kitchens.

Chef’s Table will launch in 2015 in all territories where Netflix is available.
