Netflix’s Voltron: Legendary Defender is Getting a Second Season Much Sooner Than You Think

TV News Netflix

At San Diego Comic Con yesterday, Netflix held a panel for their animated series made in conjunction with Dreamworks, Voltron: Legendary Defender, a reboot of the 1984 animated series. The reboot’s creators, Joaquim Dos Santos and Lauren Montgomery, as well as its lead writer, Tim Hedrick, were all present to discuss the show.

At the panel they announced Voltron would be getting a second season on Netflix, and fans don’t even have to wait long: it’s coming later this year. Voltron’s eleven-episode first season came out on June 11, so it’s surprising that they’ve already greenlit a second season and will have it done by the end of year.

Voltron: Legendary Defender is brought to us by many of the key members behind the incredible animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. Dos Santos was a director on both series, Montgomery was an artist on Avatar and producer on Korra, and Hedrick was a lead writer on both series. It’s clear this team has a pedigree for animation, and we’re looking forward to Voltron’s second season.
