Poker Face Season 2 Gets First Trailer And May Premiere Date

The second season of Peacock’s Poker Face is right around the corner because this case-of-the-week series will finally be back on May 8th. The first three episodes will drop simultaneously, followed by weekly Thursday releases for the rest of its 12-episode run. Starring Natasha Lyonne as Charlie Cale, a woman who solves murders with her uncanny ability to tell when someone is lying, the first season met critical acclaim thanks to its humor and sharp mysteries. One of the keys to its success was how well it brought back the “inverted detective” format, where the audience is shown the crime at the start of the story and then watches as a sleuth puts the pieces together (you know, like Columbo).
Alongside the release date reveal, we also got the first trailer for the second season, which showed off much of its long list of guest stars that includes Cynthia Erivo, Giancarlo Esposito, Katie Holmes, John Mulaney, Awkwafina, Kumail Nanjiani, Melanie Lynskey, Haley Joel Osment, Method Man, and many more. Tony Tost will be taking over showrunning duties from Nora and Lilla Zuckerman. Series creator Rian Johnson (Knives Out, Looper, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Brick) will return to direct and write alongside star Natasha Lyonne, who will also return to directing and writing duties. Johnson and Lyonne gave the following note alongside a press release:
Charlie Cale is back on the run, and in Season 2 we’ve taken her journey to the next level one murder mystery at a time. From minor league baseball to big box retail, from funeral homes to alligator farms and even a grade school talent show, Charlie navigates her crime solving existential road-trip with deadpan wit, human empathy, and her signature uncanny lie-detecting ability.
