Watch Betty Gilpin Kick Some A.I. Butt In First Trailer for Peacock’s Mrs. Davis

That is, until Peacock released the first trailer for the new original series Mrs. Davis yesterday. Starring Betty Gilpin (GLOW, The Hunt) as Simone, a fed-up nun ready to take on the world’s most popular (and powerful) algorithm known as “Mrs. Davis,” the show marks the first creative collaboration between Tara Hernandez (The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon) and Emmy-winner David Lindelof (LOST, Watchmen, The Leftovers).

Plot details are sparse, but from the trailer alone it’s clear that this sci-fi-comedy-drama hybrid will take Gilpin on a globe-spanning quest to find the Holy Grail and save humanity from being forever enslaved by our smartphones (good luck with that one).

Joining Gilpin are Jake McDorman (Dopesick, The Right Stuff) as Simone’s rebellious ex, and Andy McQueen (Station Eleven, Fahrenheit 451) in an unspecified role. Other recurring cast members include Margo Martindale, Ben Chaplin, David Arquette, Elizabeth Marvel, Katja Herbers, Chris Diamantopoulos, Ashley Romans, Tom Wlaschiha, and Mathilde Ollivier.

Mrs. Davis premiered at SXSW yesterday, followed by a Q&A with Paste’s editor-in-chief Josh Jackson. The first four episodes of Mrs. Davis will premiere on Thursday, April 20 exclusively on Peacock, with weekly episodes set to drop each subsequent Thursday. Check out the trailer for Season 1 below.
