Anya Taylor-Joy Joins Peaky Blinders Season Five

The Witch and Split star Anya Taylor-Joy has joined the cast of Peaky Blinders for its fifth season, per Deadline.

The forthcoming fifth season, which is currently filming, will follow Cillian Murphy’s gang leader Tommy Shelby, now an MP during the financial crisis of 1929, working not just to define his family’s future but that of the entire nation. Taylor-Joy’s role in the forthcoming season has not yet been specified, although the show’s Twitter account revealed a first-look photo of Taylor-Joy’s yet-unnamed character in a post welcoming her to the cast.

Helen McCrory and Paul Anderson are set to return along with lead Murphy, as well as Sophie Rundle, Finn Cole, Kate Phillips, Natasha O’Keefe, Aidan Gillen, Jack Rowan, Charlie Murphy, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Harry Kirton, Packy Lee, Ned Dennehy, Ian Peck and Benjamin Zephaniah.

Peaky Blinders arrives in the U.S. via Netflix, but across the pond, the series will be making the move from BBC Two to BBC One for its forthcoming fifth season. The series also recently celebrated a Best Drama Series win at this year’s BAFTA TV Awards for its fourth season, its first time winning the top prize in British television.

This is Taylor-Joy’s first TV credit since the BBC miniseries The Miniaturist in 2017. Coming up on the film side, she is also set to appear in the highly anticipated Split sequel Glass, as well as the long-delayed The New Mutants.
