Phoebe Waller-Bridge of Fleabag Writing a Spy Thriller for BBC America
Photos by Tabrina Hobson/Getty, Charley Gallay/GettyPhoebe Waller-Bridge can’t seem to take a break. The writer and star of the critically-acclaimed Fleabag will begin writing a new project, this one a spy thriller. Titled Killing Eve, the BBC America drama will be based on a series of novellas written by Luke Jennings.
The series will focus on Eve, “a bored, whip-smart, pay-grade security services operative whose desk-bound job doesn’t fulfill her fantasies of being a spy,” and Villanelle, “an elegant, talented killer who clings to the luxuries her violent job affords her.”
This show may not be quite as relationship-focused as Fleabag, but BBC America promises that it will focus on the “subversive, funny, obsessive relationship between two women, that plays out across some of the most and least glamorous locations imaginable.”
Killing Eve is set to premiere in 2018. Read Paste’s October interview with Waller-Bridge here.
