Samantha Bee Will Roast Trump at “Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner”

Samantha Bee, the host of TBS’ Full Frontal, will roast Donald Trump at the “Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner” on the same night as the actual White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner is taking place. In fact, it’ll be held at the Willard Hotel in Washington D.C., which is only a few miles away from the Washington Hilton, where the actual dinner will take place. It’s not entirely clear if the event will be broadcast on TV or not.

Bee announced the event in a press release, saying the following:

“Executives at TBS offered their full support of the gala by nodding politely and then muttering under their breath as we turned around. The evening is sure to bring plenty of surprises, music, food and laughter — and if you’re not careful you just might learn something. Specifically, you’ll learn how screwed we’d be without a free press.”

As the host of her own fiery talk show, one would expect that Bee would bring the same attitude at the dinner. Also, considering how the Trump administration feels about the media as of late, it’ll be interesting to see who’s at Bee’s event instead of the official dinner. TBS hasn’t confirmed an air date or guest lineup, but it probably won’t feature such high-end acts like Toby Keith or 3 Doors Down. TBS should be so lucky.
