She’s Gotta Have It Gets a Season Two Release Date

Nola Darling—effervescent, sexy and, most importantly, free—is back in season two of She’s Gotta Have It, landing on Netflix May 24. The series, based on Spike Lee’s 1986 film of the same name, originally debuted in November 2017.

This forthcoming season focuses on Nola’s (DeWanda Wise) exploration of herself as an artist, particularly as the corporate world sings its siren song now that she’s experiencing success. The lively cast of supporting characters is back in full force as well, including Mars Blackmon (Hamilton’s Anthony Ramos), her off-and-on lover who’s just starting his music career. We also see the return of Opal (Ilfenesh Hadera of Billions), Greer Childs (Transparent’s Cleo Anthony), Jamie Overstreet (Lyriq Bent from Rookie Blue), Clorinda Bradford (Margot Bingham, best known for her work on Boardwalk Empire), Shemekka Epps (The First Purge’s Chyna Layne) and Winnie Win (rapper Fat Joe). Lee is executive producing all nine episodes alongside Tonya Lewis Lee.

Watch the enigmatic and very brief teaser below, which starts by highlighting Lee’s long-overdue recent Oscar win before going on to pose the show’s central question: Who is Nola Darling?
