Check Out the First Set Photos From Starz’ American Gods Adaptation

TV News Starz

In 2014, Freemantle Media announced it would adapt Neil Gaiman’s Nebula Award-winning fantasy novel American Gods into a Starz TV series. In March of this year, Ian McShane joined the cast followed by Clorish Leachman and Peter Stormare in April.

The show will follow the story of protagonist Shadow (played by Ricky Whittle) as he and his smooth-talking employer Mr. Wednesday (McShane) navigate an escalating conflict between the old gods of mythology and the “new gods” of technology.

Today, Starz shared the first glimpse of the adaptation with Entertainment Weekly in the form of a pair of set photos, which you can check out here.

The shots depict an early scene in the story in which Shadow brawls with the leprechaun Mad Sweeney (played by none other than OITNB’s “Pornstache” himself, Pablo Schreiber) as McShane’s enigmatic Mr. Wednesday looks on from the mouth of a crocodile bar.

Expect more details about American Gods as its 2017 Starz premiere inches closer.
