Go Behind the Scenes of the Succession Finale in This Exclusive Clip

One of the few moments of levity in Succession’s gripping Season One finale—a dark night of the soul for nearly all of the Roy clan, most especially Kendall (Jeremy Strong)—finds the four siblings smoking a joint by the water’s edge. As Strong and co-stars Kieran Culkin and Alan Ruck explain in the exclusive behind-the-scenes clip below, it’s the rare occasion on which the Roys aren’t jockeying for position or at each other’s throats. Strong even describes it as a moment of “innocence,” which is a real departure for the most mercenary family on TV.

The clip is excerpted from an exclusive bonus feature, “Anatomy of a Scene,” that comes with the digital download of Succession’s stellar freshman season, taking you into the making of the finale, “Nobody Is Ever Missing.” The digital download also includes character features introducing the members of the Roy family, including Logan (Brian Cox), Kendall, Siobhan (Sarah Snook), Connor (Ruck) and Roman (Culkin). (No word on whether we get a glimpse into the back story of Paste’s favorite groomzilla, Matthew Macfadyen’s exquisitely slimy Tom Wamsgans.) Still, the best thing about the clip below might be watching it knowing that there’s more: In June, HBO renewed Succession for a second season.

Season One of Succession is now available to own via digital download. A Blu-ray/DVD release of the first season is slated for later this year.
