Daveed Diggs Enters the Fray for The Boys’ Final Season
Photo courtesy of LionsgateEmmy Award nominee Daveed Diggs has signed onto the fifth and final season of Prime Video’s superhero dramedy, The Boys. Diggs will be a series regular on the season, per Deadline, though details surrounding his character are currently under wraps.
Prime Video premiered the series’ fourth season this summer, continuing its explosive reign over the superhero genre with its dark, satirical take on power, corruption, and fascism. The universe expanded with the release of the show’s spinoff series, Gen V, which premiered in the fall of 2023.
Diggs, known for his Tony Award-winning role as Thomas Jefferson/Marquis de Lafayette in the hit musical Hamilton, has since made waves in several TV shows. Diggs starred in the sci-fi drama Snowpiercer and appeared as Frederick Douglas in the Showtime limited series The Good Lord Bird, for which he received a Critics’ Choice Nomination. Also a musician, Diggs recently spoke to Paste alongside members of clipping., his experimental hip-hop group, to discuss the legacy of their sophomore album.
As the series heads into its final chapter, many questions loom over the fate of its beloved (and despised) characters. Though it’s unclear what role Diggs will play in the final season, fans are excited to see how he will fit into the show’s already chaotic world.
Season 5 of the series does not yet have an official release date. Fans can catch up on the first four seasons, now streaming on Prime Video, and dive into Gen V for a deeper look at the twisted exploration of corruption, power, and moral decay that defines this universe.
