The CW to Rework The Notebook, Weaveworld Series’ for Next Season

The network has opted to redevelop its scripts for adaptations of Nicholas Sparks’ The Notebook and Clive Barker’s Weaveworld. Writers for both projects are being replaced while executive producers Sparks and Barker will remain attached to their respective projects.
The Notebook is a Warner Bros. production based on the book and 2004 film of the same name. The story follows the lives and love of Noah and Allie, from their relationship’s blossoming to its eventual heartbreaking (or heartwarming) end. Theresa Park will executive produce alongside Sparks.
Meanwhile, CBS Studios is behind Weaveworld, an adaptation of Barker’s 1987 novel about 1980s England and a race of people with the ability to invoke magic. The CW’s spin has given the story a bit of a makeover, centering the plot on the team up between an app designer a young pastry chef who has recently discovered her destiny as a guardian of a mythological realm. So in short, it sounds like it’s been redesigned as Shadowhunters, because everything has to be a YA adaption now.
It’s not often that pilots get second chances. The CW must feel like both properties are prominent enough that getting them onto the network’s programming schedule is worth the extra effort.
