Are You Ready For a Television Show Based on a Novel by Bill Clinton and James Patterson?

The President Is Missing, which is a real novel actually written by former President of the United States Bill Clinton and bestselling mystery novelist James Patterson, is now also going to be a show on television.

After a competitive pitching process involving 16 different companies, Deadline reports that the rights to the novel have gone to Showtime. This is, as Deadline notes, almost certainly because both Clinton and Patterson have extensive relationships with Showtime’s parent company, CBS.

Not much is known about The President Is Missing, aside from the fact that it focuses on a president who has gone missing. The novel is still forthcoming, and is set to be released in June of next year. But because anything written by a Clinton or James Patterson is just guaranteed to be good, it was easy for them to lock up television rights before the synopsis is even known.

“The White House is such an exciting world to explore and is made even more so with the unique insights of a former President,” Patterson told Deadline. “Rich storytelling opportunities for this series abound.”
