Chris Messina Joins Season Three of The Sinner

Chris Messina is USA Network’s newest recruit.

The Sharp Objects and Mindy Project actor is the latest to join the network’s forthcoming season of The Sinner, starring alongside previously announced lead Matt Bomer and series mainstay Bill Pullman, USA announced Thursday.

The third installment of the drama anthology finds Pullman’s Detective Harry Ambrose investigating a tragic car accident that leads him to uncover the most “dangerous and disturbing” hidden crime of his career. Messina is set to play Nick Haas, the college friend of Bomer’s character Jamie, an expectant father who looks to Pullman’s Detective Ambrose for support in the wake of the accident.

Looks like Messina is enjoying a busy summer season in Tinseltown: Just three weeks ago, the actor was set to costar alongside Rosamund Pike and Peter Dinklage in J. Blakeson’s new thriller I Care a Lot, and principal photography on the actor’s latest project Birds of Prey (in which he plays DC villain Victor Zsasz) wrapped earlier this April.

Season Three of The Sinner welcomes back showrunner Derek Simonds and former star Jessica Biel as executive producers alongside Michelle Purple, Charlie Gogolak and Willie Reale.

The forthcoming installment of the drama anthology has yet to receive a release window, but stay tuned for any further updates on the project. For now, you can revisit our previous coverage of the series here.
