The 5 New and Under-the-Radar TV Shows You Can’t Miss in March

Well, it’s March and there are a lot of new TV shows at the end of our rainbow. 

The TV year started off rather slowly but now March is bursting with new and returning shows. After an almost seven year absence, Charlie Cox returns in Daredevil: Born Again premiering March 4 on Disney+. Wheel of Time is back for a third season March 13 on Prime Video. Brian Tyree Henry headlines the new AppleTV+ series Dope Thief which premieres March 14. Dennis Quaid is a serial killer and Annaleigh Ashford is the daughter coming to terms with this family secret in Paramount+’s Happy Face (March 20).

But, as always, with so much TV on the horizon, we don’t want you to miss a single thing. Here are five new shows you can’t miss this March. 

1. Douglas is Cancelled

Stars:  Hugh Bonneville, Karen Gillan, Nick Mohammed and Simon Russell Beale

Premiere Date:  The first two episodes premiere March 6 on Britbox followed by the final two episodes on March 13.

This four episode series premiered across the pond last summer. In a sign of how much the social media landscape has changed over the last few years, the series follows popular newscaster Douglas (Hugh Bonneville) who gets in trouble when someone on Twitter tweets that he overheard Douglas making a sexist joke at a family wedding. His co-presenter Madeline (Karen Gillan) then retweets the tweet and defends him. Or does she? By retweeting it to her over two million followers, she draws even more attention to a joke Douglas swears he can’t remember. Keep an eye out for Ben Miles as Douglas’s boss who wants to “move into the direction of the truth” and Ted Lasso’s Nick Mohammed as a writer brought in to mitigate the escalating situation. 

2. Long Bright River

Stars:  Amanda Seyfried, Nicholas Pinnock, Ashleigh Cummings, Callum Vinson, and John Doman

Premiere Date:  All eight episodes premiere March 13 on Peacock

Based on Liz Moore’s popular novel of the same name, this eight episode series follows Philadelphia police officer Mickey (Amanda Seyfried) as she investigates a string of murders happening in the neighborhood she grew up in. Her landlord (Harriet Sansom Harris) worries that Mickey is bringing trouble into her home while Mickey’s former partner Truman (Nicholas Pinnock) worries that Mickey may be in way over her head.  Moore, who also wrote the fantastic “The God of the Woods,” serves as the writer and executive producer on the series. 

3. Good American Family

Stars:  Ellen Pompeo, Mark Duplass, Imogen Faith Reid, Dulé Hill, Christina Hendricks, Sarayu Blue and Jenny O’Hara

Premiere Date:  The first two episodes premiere March 19 on Hulu followed by a new episode every Wednesday until the finale on April 30

Ellen Pompeo’s first series since stepping back from Grey’s Anatomy is a doozy. Based on the story of Natalia Grace, a seven-year-old with dwarfism who was adopted by the Barnett family, this eight episode series tells Natalia’s story from different perspectives. Kristine (Pompeo) and Michael (Mark Duplass) think they are doing the right thing by having Natalia join their family. But soon they begin to doubt that she is actually a child and fear that they have endangered their three children. The story was covered in the 2023 Max docu-series The Curious Case of Natalia Grace. 

4. Mid-Century Modern

Stars:  Nathan Lane, Matt Bomer, Nathan Lee Graham and Linda Lavin

Premiere Date:  All 10 episodes premiere March 28 on Hulu

This new comedy comes with a lot of clout. It’s from Max Mutchnick and David Kohan, the duo behind Will & Grace. It also boasts Ryan Murphy (Glee, American Crime Story, Doctor Odyssesy) as an executive producer and the legendary James Burrows (Frasier, Cheers) as its director. Three best friends Bunny Schneiderman (Nathan Lane), Jerry Frank (Matt Bomer), and Arthur Broussard (Nathan Lee Graham) move to Palm Springs to live with Bunny’s mother Sybil (Linda Lavin, in her final role).  One can only expect that, given the people involved, hilarity will definitely ensue. Lavin, who passed away unexpectedly at the end of December, will be written out in the seventh episode of the series. 

5. MobLand

Stars: Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon, Jasmine Jobson, Geoff Bell, Daniel Betts, Lisa Dwan, Emily Barber and Helen Mirren 

Premiere Date: March 30 on Paramount+

What if Guy Ritchie had a new TV series starring Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, Joanne Froggatt and Helen Mirren and nobody knew? That’s kind of the case with the just confirmed new Paramount+ series which follows Conrad (Pierce Brosnan) as he fights to maintain his power within his global crime syndicate. The show’s path to air could be a series unto itself. It was originally conceived as a Ray Donovan spin-off for Showtime before being renamed The Associate before becoming one of the new shows we can all watch in March.
