Syfy Vampire Series Van Helsing Renewed for Fifth and Final Season
Photos by Dan Power/Nomadic Pictures Inc./SYFYAmerican-Canadian co-production Van Helsing is being renewed for its fifth and final season on NBCUniversal-owned service Syfy, per THR. The news comes ahead of the vampire show’s Season 4 finale, airing on Dec. 20.
13 new episodes will close out the story in 2020, with production on the final installment beginning early next year. Syfy owns the U.S. rights to the fantasy-drama series, which is distributed globally by Netflix.
Starring Kelly Overton, Missy Peregrym, Jonathan Scarfe, Christopher Heyerdahl, Vincent Gale, Rukiya Bernard, Trezzo Mahoro and Aleks Paunovic, Van Helsing is set in a near future in which vampires have risen and taken control. Vanessa Van Helsing (Overton) is humanity’s last hope, as her unique blood composition gives her the ability to turn vampires human. With this secret weapon, Vanessa becomes a prime target for the vampires.
Jonathan Lloyd Walker serves as showrunner, with Chad Oakes and Mike Frislev executive producing alongside Evan Tyler, Dave Brown, Zadoc Angell and Daniel March.
