Damon Lindelof Reveals First Look at HBO’s Watchmen Series

Lost and The Leftovers creator Damon Lindelof has finally unveiled the first look at his forthcoming HBO Watchmen series, which he created based on the groundbreaking graphic novel of the same name by Alan Moore, Dave Gibbons and John Higgins.

In the post, Lindelof also reveals that production starts today on the highly anticipated project, the news of which comes nearly a decade after the release of a poorly received film adaptation directed by Zack Snyder.

The mysterious first look reveals a figure clad in a police uniform and a yellow mask, who doesn’t look quite like anyone we’ve seen before in the Watchmen universe. In an open letter to fans, Lindelof previously said that he’ll be taking a “remixed” approach to the beloved original story, so this could very well be a new character created for the series adaptation. It’s unclear whether this is actual footage being tested for the new series, or simply a way to ease Watchmen fans into a significantly different take on the source material.

Watchmen comes to HBO sometime in 2019, although we don’t yet have an official premiere date for the series. Find out more here.
