Wayward Pines Gets Season Two Premiere Date

TV News

It looks like almost all of the original Wayward Pines crew will be returning for the show’s second season, which is scheduled to return to our small screens on Wednesday, May 25 in the 8:00 p.m. timeslot.

With how things ended for many of Wayward Pines’ characters last season, as well as the time commitment an encore would require from many of the series’ notable actors, it seemed unlikely that so many members of the original cast would reappear for the show’s second go.

The pull to work with M. Night Shyamalan and the eerie, plot twisty story adapted from Blake Crouch’s bestselling book trilogy, was apparently too strong.

When the 10 -episode sophomore season kicks off in May, viewers can expect to see Empire’s Terrance Howard reprise his role as Sheriff Arnold Pope, while Hope Davis, Toby Jones, Shannyn Sossamon, Tim Griffin, and Tom Stevens will also return as their season one characters. Charlie Tahan, Melissa Leo and Carla Gugino will return in a limited capacity as well.

Although a solid chunk of the original unnerving residents of Wayward Pines will be back, Jason Patric (Sleepers) and Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond) will also appear in leading roles for season two’s storyline.

Patric will play Wayward Pines newest resident Dr. Theo Yedlin, a man who finds himself in the midst of rebellion after being recently awoken from suspended animation. Meanwhile, Hounsou will play one of the town’s original inhabitants, a historian who harbors extensive knowledge of its origins and may be the key to bridging the past and future of the human race.

The 20th Century Fox Television production is executive produced by Donald De Line, Ashwin Rajan, Blake Crouch and M. Night Shyamalan, while Mark Friedman serves as executive producer and showrunner.
